1.Set Realistic Goals.
Lofty goals can discourage and keep you from continuing if you don't see results right away.
2.Don't come to the gym everyday!
Going to the gym should be fun. You don't want to burn out and no longer enjoy coming.
3.Don't always use the same machines.
You will get bored and your body will eventually adapt to the exercises. This will lead to a progress plateau.
4.Learn the right way the first time.
If you try to teach yourself, you may form bad habits or hurt yourself. Hire a Personal Trainer. This is their job, and reaching your fitness goals is their mission.
5.Train the whole body.
Aerobics are great for improving your endurance, and may be fun, but you will reach your goals faster by incorporating various types of exercise into your routine.
6.Don't just take aerobic classes.
If you concentrate on exercising when you are in the gym, and not on socializing, an hour is plenty.
7.Limit each visit to the gym to 1 hour.
If you concentrate on exercising when you are in the gym, and not on socializing, an hour is plenty.
8.If it hurts - STOP!
Some people think pain should be expected when exercising. This is false! Pain occurs when you are doing something wrong.
9.Have an evaluation.
Only a professional evaluation can truly measure your progress. Scales only measure total body weight. They do not differentiate the fat to muscle ratio.
10.If you do not feel as if you are experiencing noticeable results within 3 months,
consult a trainer.
Three months is adequate time for the body to undergo transformation. If you are not seeing results, something is being done incorrectly.
